Observational Drawing: My Favorite Thing
Congratulations on finishing your one-point perspective name drawings last week! You all did an excellent job. I know that was a difficult assignment, so this week's task is a little less technical :).
This week, you will be completing an observational drawing, which is a drawing that an artist creates while looking at an object. For this drawing, I would like you to look around your house and find your absolute favorite thing. Once you've found it, I would like you to create a drawing of this object while it is sitting in front of you. This drawing should be as realistic as possible and you should be looking at the object the whole time. Don't draw it from memory - draw it while observing it. Start with pencil and then add color (please use colored pencil or crayon like last week, do not use marker) and fill up as much space on the page as possible. Feel free to draw the objects around it if you have room. You will be graded on how well you execute the drawing of the object and how much care you put into coloring it. If you need tips on adding color, please look at last week's assignment post for a video and examples. Looking forward to seeing your favorite things, happy drawing!
Please email photos to [email protected] (with your name and homeroom # in the subject line) or message them to me on Class Dojo.
